Productivity

Be proud of me. I actually did something. Well, more than something; I did a lot of somethings today. I rearranged my living room and got all the big furniture set up how I want it, put out my DVDs, put out my pictures and books, and in general am working on getting this place fully livable. I emptied quite a few boxes already. I also put together a bookshelf, a tall floor fan, and my new tv cart. I did pretty well for myself I think.

My mom and my aunt drove in very early this morning to the UNMC in Omaha from Minnesota. For the last couple years my aunt's best friend has been battling cancer and in the last three weeks has had two strokes. This second one has resulted in a coma that the doctors believe she will not wake up from. They've found spots on her brain where basically the fungus that has developed has started eating her brain, as crass as that description sounds. She was taken off life support yesterday, thus why my mom drove my aunt to Nebraska - there's no way she could have made the drive by herself, it would have been far too difficult for her. This evening then, they drove to Lincoln and we had dinner together which was nice because I haven't seen my mom for a couple weeks, and my aunt for much, much longer. I wish there was something I could do for my aunt, she was so upset and all during dinner I could tell she was trying not to cry, all I could do is hug her. I wish I could go home and spend time with her, there is a lot of other stuff going on with my aunt's family right now and this certainly is not helping.

After dinner (we ate at Cracker Barrel) my aunt wanted to find a gift for her friend's daughter, and we found these beautiful carvings, they're these faceless figurines and each have a specific name, or symbolize something. For my college graduation Grandma and Grandpa gave me the 'Love' one which stands for 'Love, everlasting and true'. Then today my aunt bought me another one, which means 'Serenity - Calm the soul, free the spirit'. They really are beautiful, I think I am going to start collecting them. I took a picture so you could see them, but Blogger is being FUCKING STUPID again, so it is not posting photos. I will post them soon, otherwise you can go to my Xanga site to see them because I will post them there too. I wish Blogger wasn't so stupid with pictures - sometimes they post and sometimes they don't. It's so dumb. But still, it's better than Xanga and all Xanga's nonsense.
